Planning a Positano Wedding

I don’t know why it has taken me so long to write this blog, I guess trying to fit all the details into one blog seemed like an impossible task.
There are endless details that contributed to this day being perfect and I think it came down to making a conscious effort to step back and not have one specific idea of how the day should go.
Why did we choose a destination wedding?
We choose to have a destination wedding because we had been traveling/living overseas for more time than we had been in Australia as a couple for this reason we felt a destination wedding was fitting.
As well as the idea to not just spend one special day with our family and friends but a whole week.
I spent months researching Positano because although I had visited Italy I hadn't been to the Amalfi Coast before. After reading multiple blogs and online information I started emailing venues, photographers and vendors.
I also found it was quite hard to book a place without going through a wedding planner. Although I didn’t end up using one and was extremely lucky with the events coordinator at the hotel.
We choose to have the wedding in May as it is the perfect time to travel to Europe because it is just before the peak season, everything is cheaper and a lot less crowded.
Tip - Peak season is June - August
Hair + Makeup
I did my hair and makeup on the day, you could say it was because I was a chill bride or that I was so OCD I didn't trust anyone else to do it. I also use to be a makeup artist when I was younger and felt comfortable perfecting a look that was me.
Ceremony Venue - Villa Sarno
Firstly, let me just say I spent over a month researching how to get legally married in Italy as an Australian. It was a very long and expensive process that we would still have to transfer when we got back to Australia.
In the end, we decided we would just sign the legal papers when we got home. It was also why we were able to get married at a villa and not in a church (which in Italy for a legal wedding is a requirement).
We had the ceremony at our accommodation, the view was stunning and a bonus was not having to climb 1000 stairs or hire cars to get there.

Reception Venue - Hotel Conca d'Oro
Hotel Conca d'Oro couldn’t have been a more perfect location for our wedding day. They organised the cake, menu and flowers based on my colour palette.
To be honest, before actually walking into the reception I had no idea what the flowers would look like or the cake. Luckily everything was even better than I had pictured in my mind, every small detail was taken care of down to the personalised place cards and menus.
Celebrant - Giovanna D'Amato
Our celebrant was the most lovely Italian local who I found through reading multiple trip advisor feeds. she met us the day before the wedding and even drove us to the florist in Positano to help us pick our flowers.
Flowers – Flora Garden
There are only two florists in Positano and I had read Flora Garden was the one to use. Our celebrant took us there as she knew the owner and they were so lovely and extremely helpful. I had always wanted a bouquet made from peonies but was pretty open as we only ordered the flowers the day before. I had read on Tripadvisor to go there at least 2 days before, luckily they had a big range of blooms including peonies.
Photographer – Pedro Bellido
If you know me you would know having an amazing photographer was my top priority. I found my photographer through my hairdresser in Brisbane who had a client that just got married in Spain. He was so friendly and the photos turned out amazing.

I couldn't have envisioned a more perfect day in the most picturesque location surrounded by our family and closest friends. We were lucky that every detail was beyond what we had envisioned and everything just fell into place. The only thing is I wish I could go back and do it all again.
